In June 2019, the Government of Canada launched its’ interim strategy to implement the 2030 Agenda. The strategy includes 30 concrete actions and will serve as the basis for the development of Canada’s National 2030 Agenda Strategy. Following opening remarks with government representation that will explore Canada’s implementation efforts to date, the session will include robust discussion with sector experts on how Canada can lead on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda globally, notably in terms of SDGs 13 (climate action), 16 (peace, justice and effective institutions) and 17 (global partnership for the goals). Progress on these goals will require strong leadership in areas such as climate action, diplomacy, trade, peace and security and multi-stakeholder partnerships. Participants will provide inputs and recommendations that will ultimately inform a CCIC report on Canada’s global leadership for 2030 Agenda implementation that will be shared with government officials and others following the Summit.
